چکیده

in this research, a plot consisting of two sequencing batch reactors (sbr) both reactors were anaerobic stageand its aeration time was had the primary anaerobic stage witling change inthe'touilr:eaction time (9.5 hours).the average concentration of influent phosphorus and rector were 7.5 and 800 miligram per litre respectively. in two months periods the average effeciencies of phosphorus removal for the blank reactor and the second reactor with anaerobic reaction times, of 2,3, and 4.5 hours were 16%, 26%, 64%, and 99% respectively. in the reactor with anaerobic of 4.5 hours, increasing the sludge age from 5 days to 10 days resulted in decreasing of phosphorus removal efficiency from 99% to 87%. . in general, the result of this investigation show that the increases of anaerobic reaction time can increase the efficiency of phosphorus 'removal, because of the prevalence of phosphorus removing . microrganisms over other species. also the accurate control of additional sludge volume (sludge age) has an appropriate effect on the removal efficiency.

Effects of Solid Retention Time (SRT) on Sludge Characteristics in Enhanced Biological Phosphorus Removal (EBPR) Reactor

This study investigated the effects of solid retention time (SRT) on sludge characteristics and operational performance in enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) reactor. The results showed that the reactor operated at SRT of / = 8.3 d could achieve phosphate removal efficiency > 90 % and SVI < 100 mL g–1. In comparison, increasing SRT to / = 16.6 d led to a decrease of phosphate removal...

The microbiology of biological phosphorus removal in activated sludge systems.

Activated sludge systems are designed and operated globally to remove phosphorus microbiologically, a process called enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR). Yet little is still known about the ecology of EBPR processes, the microbes involved, their functions there and the possible reasons why they often perform unreliably. The application of rRNA-based methods to analyze EBPR community s...

The Influence of Hydraulic Retention Time and Sludge Age on the Kinetics of Nitrogen Removal from Leachate in SBR

In the present study the influence of hydraulic retention time (HRT) in SBR and sludge age (SRT) on the effectiveness of nitrogen removal from leachate was investigated. Two series were performed. In each series, experiments were carried out in four SBR operated in parallel at HRT 12, 6, 3 and 2d, respectively. Each series differed in sludge age. In series 1, SRT decreased from 51 to 17d with s...
